The
Mission of Sacred Heart High School is to provide a
quality Catholic education for young men and women of
various backgrounds and abilities. Each individual is
empowered through a values-oriented curriculum that
stimulates religious, intellectual, social, and cultural
development to recognize his or her gifts and talents
and to use them to promote justice and respect for the
dignity of all people.
History Of Sacred Heart High School
 |
Sacred Heart High School had a
very modest beginning. Founded in 1923, it
opened in Monastery Hall and occupied two rooms.
Only business courses were offered to the fifty
boys and girls who made up the first class. |
| Our school
began to grow gradually and in the late 40’s and early
50’s we were able to accommodate a little over 200
students. In 1954, the archdiocese gave Father Finian
Sullivan permission to expand the facilities. Through
his efforts, two wings were added to the school.
Upon completion, there were 16 additional classrooms, a
cafeteria, and a library large enough to accommodate
1600 students.

| Sacred
Heart has been many things to many people over
the years
but it was summed up best by a student who
graduated in
1965. “Every building has a spirit, the spirit
of the
people who have lived there and worked there.
The spirit
of our school is more significant than most; for
what
happens within a school’s walls is likely to
affect many
of its students
for the rest of their lives. The spirit
of Sacred Heart consists of people, many
thousands who
have gone before us and will come after us. The
sights
and faces of the old Sacred Heart will live on
in our
generations of alumni. So as the Freshmen class
each
year looks forward to the first day of school,
let them
first stop and say thank you – to all the people
who
have made their memories possible.

Today, our
facility has two fully equipped science and internet
accessible technology labs. Selected students are
eligible for our Humanities Honors Program and AP
Courses. |
|
|
All
students participate in our Enrichment Days, because we
firmly believe that learning occurs both in and out of
the classroom. Each year our students travel to museums,
historic locations, such as Boston and Philadelphia,
centers of business and industry as well as, cultural
events. |
|
| The dedicated faculty are committed to
educating young men and women to become leaders
who will have learned to integrate the
spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical
dimensions of their lives. The faculty are
professionals who foster a desire for excellence
in achievement among their students. |

The future of Catholic Co-Education is at Sacred Heart High School.
Philosophy Of Education
Sacred
Heart High School is a Catholic parish secondary
institute of co-educational learning. It provides an
environment that stimulated the total spiritual,
intellectual, moral, emotional, social, and cultural
development of every student. By discovering God’s
teachings and His teachings and His Church, the student
is given a foundation which will guide him/her to
function effectively as a mature Christian in today’s
world. Quality education is promoted and encouraged
through motivation, creative teaching, and a meaningful
learning environment. True education is a work of a
lifetime. In participating in the education of a young
person, the school acts as a bridge between the home and
the Church.
Archdiocesan
Non-Discrimination Policy
Roman
Catholic School in the Archdiocese of New York base not
only their educational purposes, but all their

equality of all men rooted in the fatherhood of God,
Christ’s love, and man’s supernatural destiny.
Thus, with
discrimination so repugnant to their nature and mission,
Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese have not and shall
not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national
and ethnic origin in administration of educational
policies, admission policies, scholarship programs, and
athletic and other school administered programs.
