·        The focus for the next two weeks will be on coloring techniques using wet and dry media.

·        We are currently continuing our study of the language of art. (Elements of Art and Principles of Design).  We will be doing the element of color.

·        How a work of art is constructed- composition continued.

·        Constructing a landscape drawing.  Students will draw their landscape and then color them using dry pastels.

·        Art material- - dry pastels- watercolors

·        Artists-  M.C. Escher, Paul Klee, Grandma Moses.

·        Creating a drawing using sharpie marker.

·        Lesson on color mixing using watercolor paints.

Students are to complete a take home exam.  This is also the study guide for their Mid term exam.  They will have part 2 when they return.

·         Drawing and painting will receive notes.  Artist study will begin using slides.

Drawing and Painting students will begin next project using a scratch board and watercolor paint.  The purpose of this project is to explore color media.

Ceramics students are working on their second coil pot, which will consist of shaping the pot and smoothing it on the outside. 

New techniques will be slab construction.  Students will create a box using slab construction. 

Students will decorate their pieces which were bisque fired.

We will have the next firing. 

Different methods of decorating pots.

Students will receive their next set of notes.

Art 12 students are having visits from different art schools.

Ceramic students will have a demo on using the wheel.

 

 

 

 

Homework-  During the Christmas break students will complete a research paper with pictures.

Drawing and Painting/ Ceramics Christmas Assignment

 

  

During the Christmas break, you are to write the following reports.   They are due January        2010.  The reports are to two pages.  Please add pictures if available. 

  • Students in Ceramics will create a wall in the ceramics room with the information they wrote pertaining to their ceramic artists.
  • Students in Drawing and Painting will create an art expression based on the artist they choose.

 

Ceramics Report.

 

       Ceramics is an art form that is thousands of years old.  The artist working in clay at this time has taken the art form to new heights.  In the past the ceramic artist was a vital part of their community.  Write a research

report about ceramics at the present time.  You will be asked to write a report about ceramics in the past probably in February.  Example:  The Greeks made amazing story vases.  The Chinese created vases during the Ming dynasty that is priceless at this time.  There are contemporary ceramics artist whose work is highly sort after now.  Look at the artist and choose on whose work make you feel is close to the type of ceramic ware you would like to create.  Your group will make a poster in which each of you will take a digital picture of one of your ceramic piece and use it to make beautiful poster.

 

 

 

Drawing and Painting Report.

 

     Drawing and Painting students are to write a report about an artist of their choice from the present time.  You also will create a project about your artist.  In February you will be asked to write a report about an artist in the past.  Your group will use the information to make a poster which will be a collaboration of all students in D/P. 

 

 

Both reports are to be typed.  Please put the art work on a separate page.  Copy art in color if possible.
